FAQ
Accuracy, weather, the surveyor boundary, turnaround, and formats. Numbers are stated only when they belong to a specific scoped job.
How accurate is the data?
Accuracy is project-specific: aircraft, sensor, altitude, control (RTK/GNSS/GCPs), vegetation, and processing all matter. We do not publish a generic RMSE, GSD guarantee, or “survey-grade” label on this site. If you need a stated accuracy class, bring the spec — including any spec from your licensed surveyor or PLS — into the quote request and we will say what we can and cannot support.
What about Pacific Northwest weather?
Wind, rain, low cloud, and short winter days routinely delay or reshape missions. We plan around weather rather than promising a calendar date we cannot fly. Recurring progress programs include weather contingency. Hold and go criteria are set with the site team during scoping.
Are you a licensed surveyor? Can you deliver ALTA or a sealed survey?
No. DroneTech Designs provides aerial data capture and processing; we are not a licensed land surveying firm, and our deliverables are not a substitute for work by a licensed Professional Land Surveyor (PLS). Where survey-grade or legally recognized measurements are required, our data can be provided to or coordinated with your licensed PLS.
What is typical turnaround?
Turnaround depends on acreage or corridor length, vegetation, airspace, weather, and the product set. We quote a delivery schedule after scoping — there is no published default turnaround.
Which formats can you deliver?
Common handoffs include LAS/LAZ, GeoTIFF orthos and surfaces, DXF / Civil 3D, PDF report packs, meshes, and organized stills or thermal sets. Name the CRS and software environment (Civil 3D, ArcGIS, QGIS, ReCap, or similar) at scoping. The exact set is confirmed then — see Deliverables for the working menu.
LiDAR or photogrammetry?
If the question is ground under vegetation or complex 3D geometry, LiDAR is usually the stronger path. If the question is a current visual basemap or a progress program on relatively open ground, photogrammetry/orthomosaic is usually the better fit. Many sites use both. See the chooser table on Services.
Who is this for?
PNW commercial buyers: GC project managers, civil and structural engineers, licensed surveyors coordinating their own work, utilities and infrastructure owners, and facilities or inspection teams. Photo and video for marketing is supporting only — we are not a drone photography studio.
